Pats Peak Toboggan Protection Building

Attached is a drawing and specifications of a small building, which we have found very useful to keep a loaded toboggan out of the snow and elements.  The building can be  constructed for about $70 (New material) depending on the availability of the sheet metal, and is easy to build.  Once built, you can move it around by dragging it upside down on the snow.  We place ours on a flattened area of snow and reposition it as the snow wears away.  The anchor rope used to hold the handle up off the ground also helps to keep the building from blowing around.  If you are in a particularly windy location, you can bank the sides with snow to hold in position.  Its low profile helps keep snow from blowing into the building during storms although it is best positioned so the prevailing storm winds do not blow into the opening.  If you get too much snow, (not too likely based on this past winter) you can pick it up and relocate it on top of the new snow cover rather than having to dig it out.  Two people can easily move it to a new flattened location.  Backing the snowmobile over the new location or having the groomer flatten an area is a great way to prepare the base for the building.

Bretton Woods Adaptive Ski Program

The Bretton Woods adaptive program makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the thrill of skiing regardless of disability.   Students in the program may have physical challenges that affect their balance, strength and mobility.  Some of these students will learn t ski on two skis.  Others will ski on one.  Student will use outriggers to assist them and some will sit down and ski in a mono ski or in a bi ski.  The program also works with visually or hearing impaired students.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the adaptive ski school.  The program provides training for interested volunteers.

If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved with an adaptive ski program contact Chris Criswell (603) 991-3133 or email him at adaptiveprogram@brettonwoods.com
