The Region is now starting to hold OEC classes and Challenges under the new
OEC testing format. This testing format, in place officially since last
Fall, supercedes the old testing method for final exams. These old tests are
no longer valid - DON'T USE THEM. There are new written tests and new
practical exams. These tests come in a package from National once the
payment procedures are carried out in full by the IOR with National. The IOR
must communicate well with National to ensure the tests are sent EARLY in
the class schedule to allow for the practice sessions to employ the new
practical testing scenarios. At all times, the Regional OEC Administrator
needs to be informed of the progress of starting a new class. An IT must be
assigned to the class from the start of the class so that person can monitor
the class, help the IOR, and be present, as required, for the exam at the
end of the class.

The new practical testing format requires 3 evaluators at each station.
These evaluators are not to be patients, but can be called on to act as
assisting patrollers with the skill level of a full patroller. They are not
to take over the "Lead", but allow the candidate to coordinate all efforts.
It is recommended by National that one of these 3 evaluators at each station
be from outside the patrol. Contact the NH Region OEC Administrator for any
assistance with fulfilling the evaluator requirements. (pjstarr1@cox.net)

2007 - 2008 IT Information

Below you will find a list of refreshers that are currently scheduled in our region. With those refresher dates are the IT's currently assigned to each area's refresher. Once again, Division has set a minimum standard goal for all NH Region refreshers for this year. The Asst Division OEC Supervisor stated that any area not meeting the NSP objectives will be required to redo
their refresher. EVERY OEC technician is required to successfully achieve each of the objectives. The intent of the requirements is clear; the emphasis should be on practical skill enhancement, not lectures.  Watch for OEC Updates on the NH NSP website.

Welcome to the new 07/08ski season.
